Level: All
Purpose: To give players an opportunity to practice throwing
Equipment: Catchers Chest Protector or Tape, Baseballs, Fence
Description: This is a fun competition that can be modified for any level. Players will stand at a marked distance and practice throwing to and hitting a target.
Execution: Either tape a square on the fence, or clip one or more catcher's chest protectors(depending on how big of a target you want) onto the fence. Mark a line that is an appropriate distance away from the target based on the age of your players. Have each player pick up 3-5 balls and get in line. Player must stay behind the line and throw their balls until they hit the target. If they hit the target, have them move to the back of the line. If they miss with all of their balls, they are out and must move to the side. Once all players have thrown, have the players that are still in line, go pick up their balls. While they are picking up their baseballs, move the line back an appropriate distance and repeat the drill. The last player remaining is the winner. |
